My Spring Fitness Refresh: 10 Things Worth Swapping Right Now

Let me tell you something about spring in Buffalo.

You will leave your house at 7am in a fleece, a hat, and a scowl. By 11am you will be sweating through a tank top and wondering where you left your sunscreen. That 30-degree swing is real, it is seasonal, and it is a sign that your gear needs a reset.

Every spring I do a little audit of what I actually use versus what I am just hanging onto out of habit. Old sweaters that don’t deserve another season. Socks that have lost the will to live. A water bottle that smells like last summer.

I pulled together my current spring favorites over on my Amazon storefront, and I wanted to walk you through why each one made the list. These are things I genuinely use, recommend to clients, or have been excited about enough to share here.

Yes, You Need Sunscreen. I Will Die on This Hill.

As someone who has dealt with skin cancer, I take SPF seriously year-round. But spring is when a lot of us start slipping back into old habits: windows down, running outside, outdoor classes without thinking twice about sun protection.

Two options I love right now:

DRMTLGY Universal Tinted Moisturizer SPF 46 is my personal daily go-to. It has zinc oxide, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid, gives a dewy finish, and honestly looks better on my skin than most foundations. It is on sale right now too.

The Face Shop Hydro Sun Barrier Moisturizer SPF 45 is a great option if you prefer something lighter and more skincare-forward. Formulated for oily skin with calendula and niacinamide, no white cast.

As we head into more outdoor workouts, more walks, more time on patios: please wear your SPF. That is the hill I am choosing today.

Your socks are kinda….ew.

Heavy winter socks have no business being in your gym bag once temps start climbing. You will overheat, your feet will not thank you, and honestly there is something about fresh, light socks that just makes a workout feel better.

Adidas Women’s Athletic Cushioned Crew Socks (6-pack) are my pick. Lightweight, durable, on sale right now. Get the 6-pack and stop thinking about it.

Warmer Temps = More Sweat = Time for New Headbands

This sounds like a small thing. It is not. A good headband keeps you focused and out of your own hair during class. A bad one slides back within 10 minutes and becomes the most distracting part of your workout.

Maven Thread 4-Inch Wide Workout Headbands (2-pack) are non-slip, wide enough to actually hold everything back, and come in great colors. Mint and lavender are giving very much spring energy right now.

The Only Hair Clips Worth Keeping in Your Gym Bag

Be honest. How many of your hair clips are broken? One side that does not close all the way? A missing hinge? We have all been using those same clips since 2019 and it is time.

Sisiaipu Flat Hair Clips (10-pack, colorful) are the move. French concord style, works for thick and thin hair, and the colorful set just makes getting ready for a workout more fun.

The Layer Problem (Solved)

If you live somewhere with actual spring weather, you know the dilemma. It is 40 degrees when you start your morning walk or drive to the studio. It will be 70 degrees by the time you are done. You need something you can throw on and not regret.

Trendy Queen Quarter-Zip Fleece Pullover is exactly that. Cozy enough for a cold start, light enough to tie around your waist or toss in your bag when you warm up. It also just looks really cute.

CRZ YOGA Full-Zip Athletic Track Top with Thumb Holes is another great option if you want something more athletic with pockets and that polished studio look.

Fresh Workout Sets for Spring Classes

There is genuinely something to the idea that what you wear affects how you feel going into a workout. New season, new gear, new energy. Here are a few pieces I am loving:

ODODOS Modal Soft Sleeveless Crop Top is incredibly soft and lightweight, perfect for Pilates, yoga, or any lower-impact class.

MathCat Seamless Racerback Tank with Built-in Bra is great for more active workouts. Supportive enough to move in, breathable enough to not regret it.

Omwilddo Strappy Sports Bra with Light Compression for those who want a little more coverage and a cute back detail.

YITTY Active Bra Tank Top with removable cups, longline fit, low impact. A solid everyday option for yoga or cycling warmup.

Heathyoga Tennis Dress with Built-in Shorts and Bra because sometimes you just want one piece that does everything. This one is cute enough for class and practical enough to actually move in.

CRZ YOGA High-Waisted Split Running Shorts with mesh liner. Excellent for outdoor workouts as temps climb.

New Sneakers Hit Different in Spring

Two directions here depending on what you need:

Brooks Ghost 17 Running Shoe for neutral runners who want reliable cushioning and a dependable long-term shoe. This is a classic for a reason. Brooks has been my go-to running shoe since 2011.

ALEADER Women’s Energycloud Slip-On Walking/Running Shoe if you want something lightweight, easy on and off, and great for walks, lifting in the gym, errands, or lower-intensity cardio. On sale right now.

Hydration That Actually Keeps Up With You

Hot take: the right water bottle makes you drink more water. Something about having a bottle you actually like using changes the habit. Two options I keep coming back to:

Owala FreeSip 32oz Insulated Bottle with the dual straw and sip function. Great for workouts and everyday carry.

Owala Wicked Edition FreeSip in Glinda Pink because it is spring and pink is fully appropriate right now. Same great design, more fun.

Everywhere Belt Bag for on the go!

Pander Everywhere Belt Bag in Lilac Purple is a crossbody and waist bag in one. The lilac color is very spring, very now, and it holds more than it looks like it should.

Transition Footwear That Actually Transitions

Project Cloud Platform Sandals are eco-crafted, adjustable, lightweight, and have a non-slip sole. They go with basically everything and they are comfortable enough to actually walk in. This is rare in a platform sandal.
